Renderman Animal Cookie

This project was for my Senior Studio 1 class.  I’ve modeled a variety of animal cookies in Maya, and then produced the shaders through renderman.  I created a rig, and used procedural animation to allow the cookies to interact as animals would in nature.

Renderman: The Vase

I used the renderman shading language to create a color changing effect based on the surface normals of the object and the viewing angle of the camera.  This clip displays the rotation of the camera around the object.  Max Bickley provided the HDR.

Renderman: Texture Based Rust

This shader applies a rusting car-metal effect based on the red, green, and blue channels given by the artist. The red channel controls the appearance of a brownish/orange rusting color. The green channel controls the alpha where the rust would have decayed the surface away, and the blue channel controls the displacement where rusting would have begun decaying and shriveling at the car paint. Anywhere the red and green channels value at 0 will appear as a car paint surface.

Gummy Bear Match to Live

I’ve taken a photograph of several gummy bears on a desk, and then created a CG replication of a gummy bear.  I used Maya and Mental Ray to model, surface, and render the gummy bear using layers, then composited the elements together using shake.

Sugar Cube Tongs

This project was an exercise in compositing a CG element into a live photograph using reflection layers.  I used Maya and Mental Ray to model, surface, and render (using layers) the sugar cube tongs, and then I composited the elements together using Shake.

Pigeon/ Bird

For the bird I layered a pearlescent effect (masked around the neck) over my painted texture.  This was part of a collaborative project where my role was to provide the surfaces.

Flight Lessons

This project is a short animation film by Neil Helm.  It’s a collaborative project where I provided the surfaces for every element to the scene with the exception of the B17 inside the nearest hanger, which was modeled and textured by Jessie Hildreth.  I used Maya’s hypershade, and photoshop to create the surfaces for the environment, rendered in both Maya Software and Mental Ray, and used Shake to composite the elements together.  Neil Helm provided Animaiton and models.

Traditional Art

The two pieces for traditional art are an example of my Photoshop painting skills.  The first piece is a work in progress where I draw my friends faces on acorns.  The second is a painting of my father and his motorcycle.
